Глава 8

1 Состарившись, Шемуил назначил судьями Исраилу двух своих сыновей.

2 Его первенца звали Иоиль, а второго сына – Авия. Они были судьями в Беэр-Шеве.

3 Но его сыновья не следовали по отцовским стопам. Они гонялись за нечестной наживой, брали взятки и извращали правосудие.

4 Все старейшины Исраила собрались вместе и пришли к Шемуилу в Раму.

5 Они сказали ему: – Ты стар, а твои сыновья не следуют по твоим стопам. Поставь же над нами царя, чтобы он вёл нас, как это есть у всех других народов.

6 Но когда они сказали: «Дай нам царя, чтобы он вёл нас», это не понравилось Шемуилу. Он помолился Вечному,

7 и Вечный сказал ему: – Послушайся всего, что говорит тебе народ. Не тебя они отвергли, они отвергли Меня как своего Царя.

8 Как они поступали со Мной с того дня, как Я вывел их из Египта, и до сегодняшнего дня, оставляя Меня и служа другим богам, так они поступают и с тобой.

9 Итак, послушайся их, но строго предупреди и расскажи, что станет делать царь, который будет ими править.

10 Шемуил пересказал все слова Вечного народу, который просил у него царя.

11 Он сказал: – Вот что станет делать царь, который будет вами править: он возьмёт ваших сыновей и заставит их служить при своих колесницах и лошадях, и они будут бегать перед его колесницами.

12 Некоторых он назначит начальниками над тысячью воинами, а некоторых – над пятьюдесятью. Одним он повелит пахать его землю и собирать его урожай, а другим – делать воинское оружие и снаряжение для его колесниц.

13 Он возьмёт ваших дочерей, чтобы они приготавливали благовония, готовили пищу и пекли хлеб.

14 Он возьмёт у вас лучшие поля, виноградники и оливковые рощи и отдаст их своим слугам.

15 Он возьмёт десятую часть вашего зерна и винограда и отдаст своим приближённым и слугам.

16 Ваших слуг и служанок, и ваших юношей, и ваших ослов он заберёт себе.

17 Он возьмёт десятую часть вашего мелкого скота, а сами вы станете у него рабами.

18 Когда этот день наступит, вы взмолитесь об избавлении от царя, которого выбрали, но Вечный не ответит вам.

19 Но народ отказался слушать Шемуила. – Нет! – сказали они. – Мы хотим, чтобы над нами был царь.

20 Тогда мы будем как все другие народы: царь будет править нами, выходить перед нами и вести наши войны.

21 Услышав всё, что сказал народ, Шемуил повторил это перед Вечным.

22 Вечный ответил: – Послушайся их и дай им царя. Тогда Шемуил сказал исраильтянам: – Идите каждый в свой город.

1 Samuel

Chapter 8

1 AND it came to pass, when Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 Now the name of his first-born son was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah; they were judges in Beer-sheba.

3 But his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes and perverted judgment.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramtha,

5 And they said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now give us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said to him, Give us a king to judge us like all the nations. And Samuel prayed before the LORD.

7 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt even to this day, as they have forsaken me and served other gods, so do they also to you.

9 Now therefore hearken to their voice; but testify solemnly to them, and show them the law of the king who shall reign over them.

10 And Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked of him a king.

11 Then he said, This will be the law of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them for himself for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots.

12 And he will appoint for himself officers of thousands and officers of hundreds and officers of fifties and officers of tens. And they shall plow his ground and reap his harvest and make his implements of war and instruments for his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be weavers and grinders and bakers.

14 And he will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your oliveyards, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your crops and of your vineyards, and give to his officers and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants and your maidservants, and your goodly young men and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep; and you shall be his servants.

18 And you shall cry for help in that day because of your king whom you shall have chosen for yourselves; and the LORD will not answer you on that day.

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said to him, No; but we will have a king over us,

20 That we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them before the LORD.

22 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said to the men of Israel, Go every man to his city.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramtha,

5 And they said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now give us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said to him, Give us a king to judge us like all the nations. And Samuel prayed before the LORD.

7 и Вечный сказал ему: – Послушайся всего, что говорит тебе народ. Не тебя они отвергли, они отвергли Меня как своего Царя.

7 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 Как они поступали со Мной с того дня, как Я вывел их из Египта, и до сегодняшнего дня, оставляя Меня и служа другим богам, так они поступают и с тобой.

8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt even to this day, as they have forsaken me and served other gods, so do they also to you.

9 Итак, послушайся их, но строго предупреди и расскажи, что станет делать царь, который будет ими править.

10 Шемуил пересказал все слова Вечного народу, который просил у него царя.

10 And Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked of him a king.

11 Он сказал: – Вот что станет делать царь, который будет вами править: он возьмёт ваших сыновей и заставит их служить при своих колесницах и лошадях, и они будут бегать перед его колесницами.

11 Then he said, This will be the law of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them for himself for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots.

12 Некоторых он назначит начальниками над тысячью воинами, а некоторых – над пятьюдесятью. Одним он повелит пахать его землю и собирать его урожай, а другим – делать воинское оружие и снаряжение для его колесниц.

12 And he will appoint for himself officers of thousands and officers of hundreds and officers of fifties and officers of tens. And they shall plow his ground and reap his harvest and make his implements of war and instruments for his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be weavers and grinders and bakers.

14 Он возьмёт у вас лучшие поля, виноградники и оливковые рощи и отдаст их своим слугам.

14 And he will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your oliveyards, and give them to his servants.

15 Он возьмёт десятую часть вашего зерна и винограда и отдаст своим приближённым и слугам.

15 And he will take the tenth of your crops and of your vineyards, and give to his officers and to his servants.

16 Ваших слуг и служанок, и ваших юношей, и ваших ослов он заберёт себе.

16 And he will take your menservants and your maidservants, and your goodly young men and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 Он возьмёт десятую часть вашего мелкого скота, а сами вы станете у него рабами.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep; and you shall be his servants.

18 Когда этот день наступит, вы взмолитесь об избавлении от царя, которого выбрали, но Вечный не ответит вам.

18 And you shall cry for help in that day because of your king whom you shall have chosen for yourselves; and the LORD will not answer you on that day.

19 Но народ отказался слушать Шемуила. – Нет! – сказали они. – Мы хотим, чтобы над нами был царь.

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said to him, No; but we will have a king over us,

20 That we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.

21 Услышав всё, что сказал народ, Шемуил повторил это перед Вечным.

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them before the LORD.

22 Вечный ответил: – Послушайся их и дай им царя. Тогда Шемуил сказал исраильтянам: – Идите каждый в свой город.

22 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said to the men of Israel, Go every man to his city.
